This War Sucks
Posted by Adam on Aug 18th 2026
This War actually sucks.
As did all the Wars that came before it. That is just a fact.
Let's be honest, we aren't going to solve this issue on this blog post. However, we can certainly talk about it. This is a stream of consciousness, please don't be offended. Or do, I don't really care anymore.

We should probaby start at 9/11/2001

Whatever you think about that day, it was a turning point in history. It changed the world forever. Americans wanted vengence - and we would have it. Unfortunately there was not a solid plan about what to do once we met any sort of objectives.
The War lasted too long, and I honestly believe it is still going. Perpetual in nature and it won't end until it is intentionally stopped.
Back then we were just kids. We invaded Iraq and so many were given a flag and a lie and sent off to that War. Only to be used as pawns, broken, in a political game that we didn't even know we were playing.
We trusted our leaders and we did what we had to do to survive. A classic story of us "regulars" doing the work of the "elite."
We "regulars" have grown up though, and to be honest we are kinda pissed off.

So much trust is given to the apparatus when you join the military. A socialist endeavor by it's very nature, you are giving away so much of your freedom in exchange for mediocre living conditions, pay and medical care (what a foreshadowing). All that we asked was that the civilians in charge of sending us to kill made the right decisions based on all of the factors before them.

You see, this is my biggest gripe. My job as an 18 year old Infantryman was not diplomacy. It wasn't talking, or negotiating. The collective might of an infantry battalion equates to a hammer, not a fountain pen.
How many levels of failure had to happen before it got to me? How many people failed to halt the march before my boots hit the ground?
As a professional soldier, I was but a simple tool. A sword in the hand of the body politic. A instrument of destruction set loose by the power structure that we allow to claim dominion over us.

You're not off the hook though, dude. You were just as complicit in the destruction as anyone on Capital Hill.
When voting was still something that seemed to be real, how did you vote?
When the government started to bang the War drums, which side did you take?
Have you ever lifted a finger to try and stop the endless march of young men and women into the fray?
Have you ever quaked with rage at what you asked us to do?
I killed for you, but was it justified?
Did you even know we were over there?
My recent trip to Ukraine only solidified what I already knew to be true. The devils hands have been busy. Young men, doppelgängers of my generation, stand together trying to survive in a war that keeps churning. The young and self enlisted men and women soak up hot metal while the elites send their kids abroad to enjoy the finer things in greater Europe.

Spiritus Systems serves only one function and that is to serve those on the frontlines. They are still out there. They are still enduring the proverbial suck of this Jingoist construct we have built from fear.
This drop tells a story, but more importantly it buys R&D hours that contribute directly to the creation of solutions.
As long as Soldiers from the USA must endure, so will Spiritus Systems.
